Black Neighborhoods Are Paying The Price For America’s Fossil Fuel Addiction

The recent report titled “Fueling Sickness: The Hidden Health Costs of Fossil Fuel Pollution,” issued by a coalition of medical and health organizations, reiterates this concern. It underscores that reliance on fossil fuels markedly compromises public health, with minorities shouldering a disproportionate burden. Dr. Mark Vossler, president of Physicians for Social Responsibility, remarked that every phase of fossil fuel processes—from extraction to combustion—inflicts harm on vital organs, intensifying the urgency for a swift transition away from fossil fuels.
