Joint Town Hall: Rep. Nikema Williams and Councilwoman Boone Meet with Residents

Georgia Representative Nikema Williams and Atlanta City Councilwoman Andrea L. Boone convened a budget town hall on Thursday at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church, engaging with constituents from the “fighting fifth” congressional district, encompassing substantial areas of Atlanta as well as cities like Brookhaven, College Park, Decatur, East Point, Forest Park, Lake City, Morrow, and South Fulton.Almost 200 attendees filled the pews, voicing their concerns. Williams articulated sorrow regarding escalating gun violence and addressed the Israel-Hamas conflict, evoking mixed reactions from the audience, including calls for stronger language on Gaza's humanitarian crisis.Williams lambasted the Trump Administration’s controversial One Big Beautiful Bill Act, highlighting substantial cuts to healthcare, food assistance, and education while favoring wealthy individuals with tax benefits. Boone emphasized the local impact of federal decisions, urging constituents to mobilize and voice their needs amidst the ongoing national tumult.
