A six-year-old girl, a victim of a shooting incident on October 1st, is now set to receive the urgent medical care she needs, thanks to financial intervention by Parliamentary Representative Alfred Prospere and the Saint Lucian government.
The tragic night unfolded as the young girl, asleep on the floor of a Dennery home, was struck by four bullets that pierced the wooden walls. One of the bullets hit her face.
Her 19-year-old neighbour – who was the initial target – was reportedly on the porch when an assailant opened fire from behind the galvanized fence. The shooter’s bullets tore through the home, wounding the teenager and the child, igniting outrage and calls for justice and support across the community.
Brittany Paul, the young girl’s mother, shared her family’s struggle with the financial burden of her daughter’s medical care on social media. Although surgery had initially been arranged, the assigned surgeon withdrew after negative comments on social media , leaving the family in urgent need of new assistance.
