As star forward Donavan “Gusto” Phillip transitions into his junior year with North Carolina State University’s Wolfpack, his impressive achievements with the Flint City Bucks in USL League Two keep garnering recognition. Recently, the powerful striker was celebrated as a nominee for the 2025 USL League Two Central Conference Team of the Year and awarded the prestigious Conference Player of the Year title. “Phillip proved nearly unstoppable, netting 12 goals, which earned him a co-Golden Boot accolade,” the announcement highlighted. Additionally, he contributed nine assists during the season, solidifying his status as the Central Conference’s standout player. The USL League Two Team of the Year is curated based on season statistics by league representatives. In the postseason, Phillip scored five more goals across four matches.This week, the Marchand native also secured a spot on the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Watch List, recognized as one of only two forwards from 15 schools in the conference.
