Saint Lucian forward Donavan “Gusto” Phillip showcased his remarkable talent with a hat-trick in his second match of the junior season for the North Carolina State men's soccer squad. The 6'2", 190-pound striker has already netted four goals in just two fixtures for the Wolfpack.On Sunday evening, the 14th-ranked NC State hosted Wofford’s Terriers at Dail Soccer Field in Raleigh, achieving a commanding 6-0 victory after leading 5-0 by halftime. This match marked NC State’s fourth triumph in as many encounters with Wofford since 2009, the last clash occurring in 2022.The scoring commenced with Tyler Caton finding the net in the 19th minute—his first for the team. Phillip then increased the tally in the 24th minute, executing a clever turn followed by a powerful shot. Caton assisted Phillip’s second goal with a towering header. The 29th minute saw Phillip complete his hat-trick with a precise finish after a brilliant assist. Max Ogawa and an own goal rounded off the scoreline. Previously, Phillip scored in the Wolfpack’s 2-0 win over Queens (NC) and enjoyed a stellar summer with the Flint City Bucks, earning USL2 Player of the Year honors.
