Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento recently celebrated its eighth annual Rock the Block Oak Park on May 9-10. Hosted at Saint Paul Church and collaborating with the City of Sacramento, this two-day revitalization initiative focused on maintaining affordable housing. It provided essential repairs such as roof replacements, pest control, and landscaping for seniors, veterans, and low-income families, often at little to no expense. Approximately 500 volunteers contributed, completing 20 home repairs and four community projects. Since its inception in 2018, Rock the Block Oak Park has generated $4.2 million in investments, repairing over 120 homes. Resident Tammy Brooks Vaughan expressed her gratitude, noting, “What Habitat has done through Rock the Block is a blessing.” Leah Miller, CEO, emphasized the importance of community and collaboration, highlighting the event's long-lasting impact.
