In a significant advancement for Fair Park and the Community Park project in South Dallas, Fair Park First has received a $3 million investment from the state of Texas. This funding was secured during the 2025 Legislative Session, led by Rep. Venton Jones and Sen. Royce West, expediting the revitalization of Community Park, which aims to return space to the local community.
Rep. Jones articulated that obtaining this funding addressed long-standing disparities in the district. He emphasized that South Dallas deserves similar investments as other areas. “Our community has waited too long for quality public spaces,” he asserted.
The park will serve as a year-round gathering location, designed with input from over 1,100 South Dallas residents. Encompassing 10.5 acres, it will feature shaded areas, accessible playgrounds, and walking trails among other amenities.
"This park embodies the essence of our community," declared Jason Brown of Fair Park First. With less than $6 million needed to complete funding, groundbreaking is anticipated in August 2026, marking the beginning of a transformative legacy for South Dallas.
