DESOTO – Illustrating exemplary leadership and teamwork, soldiers from Fort Hood engaged in a dynamic team-building training session with the DeSoto Eagles varsity football team at Eagle Stadium on July 30.This interactive event showcased the Army’s fundamental values—loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage—to the student-athletes."It transcends mere physical training; it encompasses mindset, dedication, and character,” remarked Claude Mathis, head football coach for DeSoto Eagles. “The values of the Army resonate with what we impart to our athletes daily. This unique experience fosters their growth as leaders, teammates, and individuals—an essential part of our mission at DeSoto ISD.”The initiative not only readied the team for the upcoming season but also emphasized developing resilience and leadership skills applicable beyond sports. It served as a precursor to the U.S. Army Basic Combat Training Experience, a state event set for March 25-26, 2026, at Fort Hood, potentially involving over 4,000 Texas students across various disciplines. This training reflects DeSoto ISD's commitment to preparing students for life’s challenges through its comprehensive Triple A Experience, integrating academics, arts, and athletics.
