Union Baptist Church, known as “A Church On The Move For Christ Since 1831,” will commemorate its 194th Anniversary on Sunday, July 20, at 10:45 a.m. The celebration will be led by Reverend Dr. Orlando B. Yates, the church’s Senior Pastor. Notably, Pastor Julian A. Cook of Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Cincinnati will serve as a guest speaker. As the oldest African American Baptist church in Cincinnati, Union Baptist was established on July 21, 1831, by a dedicated group of 14 Christians, comprised of ten men and four women. In 1845, it achieved incorporation through the Ohio General Assembly. The church has a rich legacy; in 1864, it acquired the United Brethren Church site and 16 acres for Union Baptist Cemetery to ensure burial space for its community. Reverend Dr. Yates has led the congregation since February 7, 1988, fostering both spiritual growth and community connection. Join the celebration in person or via live stream on Facebook Live/YouTube. Union Baptist Church is located at 405 W. 7th Street, Cincinnati, 45203.
