Historically Black Central State University Appoints Morakinyo Kuti as President

Morakinyo A.O. Kuti has been selected as the next president of Central State University, a historically Black university in Wilberforce, Ohio. Central State University enrolls just over 5,400 undergraduate students, as well as roughly 30 graduate students in their master of business administration program. The study body is approximately 83 percent Black. Dr. Kuti has been serving as Central State University’s vice president of research and economic development and director of land-grant programs. Prior to his appointment as vice president, he held various leadership roles at the university including associate provost for research and interim dean of the John W. Garland College of Engineering, Science, Technology, and Agriculture. In announcing his presidency, a release from Central State University reads, Dr. “Kuti’s commitment to supporting underrepresented students in STEM fields is commendable. Through his programs, hundreds of students have been able to pursue their dreams and enter the workforce or pursue graduate studies. By providing mentorship, resources, and opportunities, Kuti has empowered these students to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.” Dr. Kuti is an alumnus of Central State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance.
