Howard University, a historically Black educational institution in Washington, D.C., has announced plans to build a new hospital building directly in front of the existing Howard University Hospital at a cost of $650 million. The new 200-bed facility will begin construction in 2025. During construction, the existing Howard University Hospital will continue operations without disruptions. Once completed, both hospitals will be physically connected to create one unified, expanded hospital facility. Currently, Howard University Hospital is managed by Maryland-based Adventist HealthCare. Both the university and the healthcare organization have negotiated on buying the building. As those negotiations are ironed out, construction on the hospital will move forward. The new addition to the Howard University Hospital aims to open in 2028. The post Howard University to Build New Hospital Facility appeared first on The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education.
