At 1:30 a.m., Eboni Pouncy and her friend arrived at the friend's apartment only to realize their keys were left at a nearby restaurant. Instead of calling a locksmith, they opted to remove a window screen and break a lower pane to gain entry, intending to fix it the following day. However, a neighbor heard the glass shatter and dialed 911, prompting two deputies to respond with guns drawn.
