On July 26, the organization will present the Hip Hop, Arts, and Culture festival at Zhou B Art Center, an event blending mental health awareness with vibrant performances by Grammy-winning artist Rapsody and local talents like Fillmore Green and IAMGAWD. More than just a celebration, this festival provides a culturally rich healing experience rooted in Black expression.Founded in 2007 by Dr. Christian Adeyemi Akiwowo, the organization initially focused on assisting youth affected by trauma. Following Dr. Akiwowo’s death in August 2023, his son Chris took the helm, emphasizing a fresh perspective that intertwines hip-hop and mental health. Through innovative programs, youth engage in creative therapies that resonate deeply, sculpting a pathway to healing while addressing broader community challenges. The event aims to unite through creativity, discourse, and support, fostering a transformative experience for attendees.
