Iconic Black Astronaut Set for Hall of Fame Induction

America's pioneering astronauts from the 1960s “Project Mercury” aimed to create a tribute space for their legacy, culminating in the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame’s establishment at Kennedy Space Center in 1990. This year, Dr. Bernard Harris joins the ranks of esteemed inductees alongside Peggy Whitson on May 31, 2025. Harris, the first African American to spacewalk, has an impressive background, including a medical degree and tenure at NASA, before leading Vesalius Ventures, Inc. His commitment to youth education is reflected in the school named after him in San Antonio.
