The New Pittsburgh Courier reports that on Thursday, May 29, an engaging evening of diverse chamber music will unfold at St. James AME Church, located at 444 Lincoln Ave., East Liberty. This event will be presented by Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Associate Conductor Jacob Joyce and Dr. James Johnson of the Afro-American Music Institute. Admission is complimentary, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Attendees will not only enjoy performances by the PSO’s Paul J. Ross Fellowship musicians but also delve into the significant impact of African American culture on the realm of classical music. Additionally, an exhibition titled “I Too Play: Unveiling the History of Black Classical Musicians in Pittsburgh” by Candace Burgess will be featured.
