In Memoriam: Clyde Aveilhe, 1937-2024

Clyde C. Aveilhe, longtime higher education administrator, passed away on November 5. He was 87 years old.
Originally trained as a public school teacher in Washington, D.C., Dr. Aveilhe’s first role in higher education came at his alma mater, Howard University. He held several roles with the historically Black institution, including director of student affairs. Later in his career, he held government relations leadership positions with California State University and the City University of New York. Outside of academia, Dr. Aveilhe had stints as director of the equal employment opportunity center in Washington, D.C. and as an associate with Educational Testing Service.
Dr. Aveilhe received his bachelor’s degree from Howard University and his doctorate from George Washington University.
