In Memoriam: Roscoe Hightower Jr., 1966-2024

Roscoe Hightower Jr., professor of marketing at historically Black Florida A&M University, passed away unexpectedly on April 4. He was 58 years old. Dr. Hightower’s career in academia began in 1997 as an assistant professor of marketing with the University of Akron in Ohio. He first joined the faculty at Florida A&M University in 2000 as an assistant professor of marketing and was promoted to full professor in 2012. Three years later, he was promoted again to the Centennial Eminent Scholar Chair and Professor of Marketing and Facility Management. In addition to his teaching appointment, Dr. Hightower served as president of the Florida A&M University chapter of the United Faculty of Florida. Outside of his academic roles, he served as a board member for the Facility Management Accreditation Commission, as well as the inaugural European Facility Management Association Ambassador to the United States. Dr. Hightower was an alumnus of Florida A&M University where he received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in business administration.
