Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is set to host a series of Community Conversations in June 2025, aimed at fostering dialogue among families, staff, and community members regarding significant legislative updates and the establishment of the Indianapolis Local Education Alliance (ILEA).**Scheduled Community Conversations:**- June 3, 6–8 p.m. – Lew Wallace School 107- June 5, 6–8 p.m. – James Whitcomb Riley School 43- June 11, 6–8 p.m. – James Russell Lowell School 51- June 17, 6–8 p.m. – William McKinley School 39Co-hosted by IPS Commissioners, these sessions will commence with welcome speeches, followed by insights into IPS’s history and the ILEA. Attendees can engage in small group discussions, with refreshments and translation services provided at each event.The ILEA, formed by the Indiana General Assembly, is a collaborative initiative led by Mayor Joe Hogsett and IPS Superintendent Aleesia Johnson that seeks to enhance cooperation between IPS and local charter schools in areas such as transportation and governance. The board is responsible for delivering recommendations to state officials by year’s end.
