It seems that the highly anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and Tank Davis may no longer be held in Atlanta. El Gallo’s Most Valuable Promotions has reportedly retracted its request to stage the event in Georgia. In an interview with USA Today, Rick Thompson, head of the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission, disclosed that MVP has withdrawn its application for the essential event permits and rule waivers for the fight at State Farm Arena, as originally intended. Thompson aimed to keep the public informed about this shift, mentioning that presale sign-ups were still available on the venue’s website. The necessary permits are standard for events of such scale, while the waivers pertain to the considerable weight difference, with Paul weighing roughly 65 pounds more than Davis based on their recent bouts. Thompson also indicated that a vote by the GAEC regarding MVP’s applications is imminent, noting that three out of five commissioners must approve it, although he makes it clear he is opposed. Despite the uncertainty, MVP has yet to issue a statement but hinted that important news would be revealed soon.
