According to the scholarship’s official website, Wide was born on May 21, 1973, in Chicago, Illinois. Wide relocated to Indianapolis during his childhood, developing a profound connection to both cities.
Graduating from North Central High School, he pursued a journalism degree at Indiana University, advocating for education across various platforms, spanning journalism, public relations and entrepreneurship.
Valuing both traditional and vocational education, Wide actively engaged in community service in Indianapolis, fostering holistic development among young adults to prepare them for life’s challenges and contributions to society.
The scholarship, open to residents of Indianapolis or Chicago, offers multiple $1,000 awards for the 2024 academic year.
Applicants, graduating high school seniors, must demonstrate proof of enrollment in an accredited institution and exhibit financial need. The deadline for applications is April 21, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. EST, with recipients notified by May 3, 2024.
