West Indies top-order batsman Johnson Charles has returned to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for 2025, rejoining Multan Sultans as their first supplementary pick. The three-time finalists also added spinner Gudakesh Motie and wicketkeeper-batsman Shai Hope.
The 2025 PSL will be the 10th season of the tournament, under the auspices of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The tournament will played between six teams in a double round-robin and page playoff system with a total of 34 matches scheduled across four cities from April 10 to May 25.
Charles, who turned 36 on Wednesday, has played with the Sultans four times since 2018. Across 16 innings, Charles has amassed 435 runs, at an average of 29. He has three half-centuries in that period.
In 2024, Sultans topped the preliminary stages of the series. Charles hit 53 from 29 balls to set up a comfortable 79-run win against Quetta Gladiators in the final preliminary match. He hit six fours and three sixes.
The Sultans will be hoping to unseat defending PSL champions Islamabad United. The season will be the last six-team event. Starting from 2026, the league will expand to eight teams, with two new franchises set to join the competition.
