The Middle Peninsula African-American Genealogical and Historical Society (MPAAGHS) is scheduled to host its monthly virtual gathering on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. Featured speaker Marvin Tupper Jones will present “Juneteenth Soldiers of Northeastern North Carolina,” coinciding with the upcoming commemoration of Juneteenth's 160th anniversary. Jones, a descendant of United States Colored Troops (USCT) who served in Texas, has extensively researched these soldiers, including those who participated in Wild’s Raid, liberating 2,500 enslaved individuals while dismantling Confederate camps.
