The aroma of fresh paint intertwined with the sounds of clanging buckets at the Pope Francis Center’s Day Center, located in downtown Detroit. A dedicated team of 27 volunteers from JPMorganChase equipped with brushes and cleaning tools, diligently transformed the kitchen, dining area, and restrooms—critical spaces welcoming over 200 visitors daily.Since its inception in 1990, the Pope Francis Center has been committed to combating homelessness, providing over 110,000 nutritious meals, 2,550 laundry loads, and 6,000 warm showers each year alongside essential medical, dental, and legal services. Fr. Tim McCabe, SJ, the Center’s President, emphasized, “For many homeless individuals, this Center offers a shining light of hope.” Over the past ten years, JPMorganChase has not only supplied banking services but also volunteer support to enhance the Center's impact. Mary McCoy, Executive Director at J.P. Morgan Commercial Banking, highlighted their pride in supporting critical community initiatives. Through collaborative efforts, volunteers expedited tasks that would typically consume staff a week into just three hours. Credits Images: (Wikipedia)
