Last year, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper recognized and understood the 27 years of judicial experience and commitment to fairness and equitable justice that Judge Carolyn Thompson exudes. That’s why he appointed her to seat 12 on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. A post that makes Judge Thompson the highest ranking African American female in the state judicial system in the state.“The reason I appointed her is because of her record,” Cooper said. She’s been on the front line and in the trenches as an attorney, a trial judge, a district court judge and now on the court of appeals.
