Black Man Detained on Train After White Woman Calls 911 Over His Posture

An acclaimed Black screenwriter found himself removed from a train by authorities after an “older white woman” phoned 911, claiming she disapproved of his seating position. Alex O’Keefe, known for his contributions to the acclaimed Hulu series “The Bear,” captured the episode of his detainment by Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) police on video. In an Instagram post, O’Keefe shared, “I was arrested on the @MTA train to Connecticut, handcuffed, and detained. An older white woman pointed at me and demanded I adjust my posture.” He resisted, prompting her to alert the conductor, who subsequently summoned the police. During the encounter on September 19, 2025, O’Keefe insisted he committed “no illegal act.” Observers documented the scene, with one bystander remarking, “You’re not the minority anymore.” Eventually, he was released after questioning, highlighting the alarming prevalence of racial profiling.
