On Wednesday (November 6), Harris appeared at Howard University in Washington D.C. after former President Donald Trump was projected to win the 2024 election. Harris employed a message of unity and encouraged Americans to keep fighting for democracy in her first remarks since losing the presidential election. “My heart is full today,” Harris began her speech. “Full of gratitude, full of love, and full of resolve.” Though the outcome of the election didn’t fall in her favor, Harris said, “The light of America’s promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting.” Harris noted that she was “proud” of the campaign she ran. The vice president had about 107 days to make her bid for the White House after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
