Karmelo Anthony, a prominent high school basketball star, faces serious allegations related to the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf, causing him to forgo attending his graduation ceremony. Despite achieving a commendable 3.7 GPA, the controversy surrounding the incident led to the decision for him not to receive his diploma in person. Thankfully, he still qualifies for graduation.
The 18-year-old, who was released after posting a $250,000 bond, is charged with murder. According to the Next Generation Action Network, a nonprofit advocating for his rights, the Frisco Independent School District permitted Anthony to graduate without attending the final month and a half of school. His family reached an agreement ensuring he would miss all senior activities.
Minister Dominique Alexander emphasized the importance of this moment for Anthony’s dignity.
