Disturbing Security Footage: White Man Fires Rifle at Black Jogger, Judge Imposes High Bond Following Startling Admission

A man from South Carolina has been charged with a hate crime after surveillance footage captured him firing a rifle at a Black jogger while uttering a racially charged phrase. Jonathan Felkel, now in custody under a $1 million bond, faces multiple charges, including hate intimidation and assault of a severe nature, accompanied by unlawful weapon possession during the violent act.The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on July 17 in Richland County. Reports indicate that Felkel was parked in front of a gated community when he retrieved a rifle and shot towards a jogger. Following the rash act, he advanced his vehicle into the gated area, taunting the jogger with “Keep running, boy.”Remarkably, the jogger was unharmed. After his apprehension, Felkel confessed to investigators that he originally planned to shoot at the jogger. This incident marks Felkel as the first individual charged under Richland County’s newly enacted hate crime ordinance, which advocates for racial intimidation statutes across the state.
