Kemp Enacts Legislation on Transgender Athletes, Enhancing School Safety and Education Policies

ATLANTA – Governor Brian Kemp has enacted a ban preventing transgender students assigned male at birth from competing on female sports teams in Georgia's educational institutions. Among the seven bills signed was the Riley Gaines Act, influenced by a swimmer’s experience with a transgender rival. Kemp emphasized that the legislation prioritizes fairness and safety. While critics argue the bill addresses minimal issues in sports, advocates assert it safeguards female athletes. Georgia now aligns with over two dozen states imposing similar restrictions, impacting various public and private educational institutions.
