A former University of Kentucky student, Sophia Rosing, is seeking an expedited release from her prison sentence after being recorded using racial slurs during an assault on a Black desk clerk, Kylah Spring. Last October, Rosing received a one-year prison term, alongside community service and a monetary fine, due to her guilty plea on multiple charges, including fourth-degree assault and disorderly conduct. The incident, occurring in November 2022 while Rosing was intoxicated, involved her physically attacking Spring while hurling the N-word over 200 times. Following this publicized event, Rosing was expelled and banned from the university. Now, after serving four months, her legal team has filed a motion in Fayette County Circuit Court for probation, citing her commitment to personal reform and sensitivity training.
