Facing significant backlash on social media, Kyler Murray quickly expressed remorse and clarified to reporters that there was no harmful intention behind his recent post featuring a photo of himself with a dog donning a Michael Vick jersey. During his media availability on Wednesday, Murray elaborated on the issue, stating, “In no way, shape, or form do I condone animal cruelty or dog fighting, whatever it is.” He further acknowledged the impact of his image and decided to remove it, stating, “So, I apologize to anybody and whoever I affected with that.” The controversial image, showcasing the athlete alongside a pitbull in the Vick jersey, struck many as insensitive. Given that Vick faced federal charges in 2007 for his involvement in a dogfighting ring where numerous animals were seized, this reaction was unsurprising. As a dog owner himself, the 28-year-old emphasized that his pets “get treated like kings.”
