The formidable La Clery men's football team is set to journey to Trinidad & Tobago this week, representing Saint Lucia in the 2025 Caribbean Football Union Club Shield competition. They secured their place in this prestigious tournament by clinching the inaugural Saint Lucia Semi-Professional Football League title in 2024, along with the Island Cup and their first Blackheart title. Coached by former professional footballer and national team captain Zaine Pierre, the squad features 19 players, including eight under 22, led by national goalkeeper Devone St Prix. Notably, goalscorer Andrus Remy will accompany the team in a non-playing role. Positioned in Group A, La Clery must triumph in both group matches against Haiti’s Capoise and Bonaire’s SV Real Rincon to advance. Their first match is against Real Rincon at Ato Boldon Stadium, followed by a clash with Capoise at Larry Gomes Stadium. Coach Pierre emphasized the team's rigorous preparation since March, aiming for a strong showing in this regional competition.
