Mike Lee And Company Push Unfounded Allegations On The Minnesota Gunman's Political Ties

Republican Senator Mike Lee from Utah and several others shared unfounded allegations on social media regarding the political association of the suspect involved in the June 14 fatal shootings of Democratic Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her spouse, along with wounding another Democratic official and his wife. Hours post-incident, Senator Lee and Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio labeled the suspect as a Marxist or member of the "extreme left," although acquaintances disclosed he was a supporter of Donald Trump and held conservative views. Following an extensive manhunt, the suspect, Vance Boelter, 57, was apprehended with a list of intended Democratic targets. FBI Director Kash Patel characterized the events as “targeted political assassinations.” Though experts caution against speculation regarding ideology, Lee's posts, which he later deleted upon Senator Schumer's request, perpetuated unfounded claims. Disturbingly, no evidence links Boelter’s actions to left-leaning politics, despite references to “No Kings” protests occurring contemporaneously with the attacks.
