LIMEHOF will  induct three pioneering hip-hop DJs

Before summer ends the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is about to deliver a triple shot of hip-hop as DJ Hurricane (The Beastie Boys) and Davy DMX (Run-DMC, Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys) of Hollis, Queens plus DJ Jazzy Jay (Def Jam) of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn will be inducted at a special ceremony on Saturday at the LIMEHOF Museum in Stony Brook. “The induction of DJ Hurricane, Davy DMX and DJ Jazzy Jay into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame highlights the importance of DJs in hip hop’s early days,” says LIMEHOF Vice Chairman Tom Needham. “These pioneers transformed the art of DJing, making it a central element of the genre and influencing countless artists. Their legacy is a vital part of hip hop’s story and we are proud to honor them.” All three DJs will perform with LIMEHOF inductee DJ Johnny Juice (Public Enemy). Additionally, rapper Kurtis Blow is set to make a special appearance to induct Davy DMX. Tickets for the event, which starts at 7:30 p.m., are free with advanced online registration only.
