The Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC) has earmarked over $250,000 to its affiliated federations for this year, distributing roughly $125,000 in both March and June. Nevertheless, SLOC President Alfred Emmanuel delivered a stern warning during the recent funding event, indicating that several federations need to improve their performance and meet their obligations. In a gathering that included representatives from athletics, sailing, shooting, table tennis, and volleyball, Emmanuel highlighted SLOC's dedication to bolstering its affiliates while pointing out that some member organizations struggle with their responsibilities.“Our committee is committed to helping members enhance their sports and adhere to SLOC's obligations,” Emmanuel asserted. Since taking the helm in 2021, he has underscored the pressing need for increased oversight concerning funding. His principal concern involves federations that do not provide satisfactory reports on their financial expenditures. He reiterated that the SLOC will henceforth focus on collaborating with federations that exhibit true dedication to development and governance.
