Affordable housing remains a complex challenge across the nation, especially in Indianapolis, where rising property costs and systemic inequalities make homeownership for people of color difficult. According to the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana, Black homeownership in Marion County sits at around 39%, significantly below the 67% rate for white residents. This disparity reflects historical barriers. as well as ongoing challenges in the lending industry, which has often overlooked the unique needs of minority buyers.
