Making friends in a new city is tough

Dear Ask Ashlee, I just moved to a new city a little over a year ago and I have been struggling to make meaningful connections. I moved to be with my boyfriend, as cliche as that sounds, and yes, we are still together, but I want a life outside of him. I don’t mind my solitude, but it’s not something I am looking to do every day and every weekend. I have communicated this with my boyfriend, but he doesn’t get it because he has a whole crew of friends. I have met them all and some of their girlfriends, but these women are really not my vibe. I want to be happy here, and I am trying, but it just feels really hard for me to find my own support system here. Any suggestions?
