Man, Woman Injured In Separate Castries Road Incidents

Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) personnel rushed a man and a woman to the OKEU Hospital on Monday after separate road incidents in Castries.
At about 12:50 pm, the SLFS headquarters in Castries learned that a bus had struck the 63-year-old man on Coral Street, resulting in lacerations to his left foot.
When the responders transported him to the hospital, he was stable.
Later on Monday, at about 5:17 pm, emergency personnel at the SLFS headquarters responded to a report that a Suzuki Swift had run into a tree near the beach on the Vigie stretch.
Preliminary reports indicated that the female driver, who appeared to be in her late twenties to early thirties, was overtaking when she encountered another vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.
According to the reports, the Swift veered into the tree as the driver sought to avoid a collision with the oncoming vehicle.
The driver was stable when an ambulance transported her to the hospital.
Just recently, amid a surge in road accidents, Fire Chief Ditney Downes issued a road safety appeal.
” We’ve seen an exponential increase in vehicle accidents on a month-to-month basis in Saint Lucia,” the Chief Fire Officer disclosed.
