Doctor Suhail Anjum Confesses to Affair with Nurse During Unconscious Patient's Care

A scandal has emerged involving Dr. Suhail Anjum, a married father of three, who apparently abandoned a surgical procedure for an intimate encounter with a nurse while a patient lay unconscious. The unsettling episode occurred at Tameside Hospital, Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, where Dr. Anjum, 44, was discovered in a “compromising position” by a colleague. He had requested a peer to supervise the patient, who was under general anaesthesia, as he supposedly went to the restroom. Instead, he spent eight minutes in another operating theatre engaging in sexual relations with the nurse on September 16, 2023.During a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing, a witness reported seeing the nurse, referred to as Nurse C, with her trousers down while Dr. Anjum adjusted his clothing. Though the absence did not harm the patient, Dr. Anjum faced dismissal after an internal investigation. He sought to resume his medical career in the UK following a period working in Pakistan and expressed regret over his actions. The tribunal, while recognizing the misconduct, found that no further sanctions were necessary at this time.
