Martin University is collaborating with The Health Foundation of Greater Indianapolis, AmeriCorps/Serve Indiana and Keeping Indianapolis Beautiful to host the AmeriCorps Day of Service & Remembrance Program on Sept. 11.&
The initiative is dedicated to honoring the lives lost on 9/11 and will gather volunteers for a day of community service to beautify the Martin University Campus. Services will include landscaping, cleaning and the construction of benches donated by sponsoring organizations.&
A commemoration ceremony will be held to honor Veteran students of Martin University.&
The iconic World Trade Center cross — two intersecting steelbeams that held up when the Twin Towers collapsed on September 11,2001.
“We are proud to be part of this Day of Service, which not only commemorates the tragic events of 9/11 but also highlights the enduring importance of community and civic responsibility,” said Dr. Sean Huddleston, president and CEO of Martin University. “The service and dedication of our Veteran students inspire us all, and we are honored to recognize their contributions with this plaque. Their pursuit of education embodies the resilience and commitment that this day represents.”&
