Mayor Whitfield Appoints Experts to Lead Housing Ready Task Force

Mayor Deb Whitfield has unveiled the Housing Ready Task Force, aimed at tackling Lawrence's housing difficulties and paving a sustainable future. This initiative stems from her vision shared during the State of the City Address on April 23, emphasizing the need for a housing-ready community.The diverse Task Force comprises Lawrence City Council members Liz Masur and Tyrrell Giles, housing expert Alison Cole, MIBOR's Lacey Everett, Realtor Judy Dages, and Interim Public Works director Renea Rafala as an ex-officio member. Jim Perron will coordinate efforts. Additional members may join as progress unfolds.The Task Force will analyze current policies, pinpoint gaps in housing supply, and suggest strategies to accommodate various housing types, including affordable and workforce options.
