Indiana gubernatorial nominee Jennifer McCormick has revealed her Commonsense Cannabis Legalization Plan on Sept. 12. The plan aims to legalize cannabis in a step-by-step and responsible manner. The plan starts with a controlled medical marijuana enterprise and paves the way for full adult-use legalization.
McCormick believes the time for cannabis legalization is among us.
“Hoosiers have made it clear — they support adult-use cannabis and are frustrated by Indiana’s outdated prohibition laws,” McCormick said in a statement. “Our plan takes a commonsense approach by first introducing a well-regulated medical marijuana industry, allowing us to address potential regulatory challenges and ensure a smooth transition to well-regulated and legal adult-use cannabis.”

Indiana Cannabis Commission: Establishing this independent body to oversee regulation, licensing and compliance for the cannabis industry, ensuring a transparent market.
Medical Marijuana Industry: Launching a regulated medical marijuana market to provide access and prepare for a future transition to adult-use legalization.
Pathway to Adult-Use: Outlining a clear plan to legalize cannabis for adult use, addressing challenges gradually to ensure effective regulation.
Regulating Hemp-Derived THC: Addressing the unregulated hemp-derived THC products flooding the market by implementing safety regulations.
