Mishael White's Vision for Juneteenth: A Promising Future Ahead?

As we commemorate Juneteenth this week, financial markets are descending into troubling territory while global leaders challenge President Donald Trump with retaliatory duties. Simultaneously, the Trump Administration appears to flout judicial decisions, and the enduring chasm in Congress remains unbridged. One is left to ponder: Will President Trump attempt to abolish Juneteenth? Since 1776, July 4th has symbolized America's inception and democratic tenets. However, our nation grapples with strife: reversals of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts, a constitutional crisis, and immigration demonstrations. The early stages of Trump's second term have been undeniably tumultuous. This pivotal moment in our nation’s narrative demands urgent action. Participation is crucial; we cannot postpone until the November 2024 elections. Educating youth in civics, volunteering, or enhancing our historical understanding can reinvigorate our democracy as we approach 2026. As a CDL driver and Georgia House of Representatives candidate, I've seen the shared humanity among my neighbors, strengthening my belief in our collective kindness.
