MLK Coalition Cincinnati announces theme, special events

By Raffel Prophett, MLK Coalition ChairThe Martin Luther King Jr. Coalition of Cincinnati is proud to announce its free upcoming, 50th anniversary program and march, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This year’s theme, “Jubilee for MLK’s Beloved Community,” is a call to action inspired by Dr. King’s vision of unity and justice, as articulated in his final book Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community? It also draws from his 1960 Freedom Jubilee speech in Pittsburgh, where he celebrated the spirit of renewal and the ongoing fight for equality. The term “jubilee” symbolizes a time of emancipation, revitalization, and a renewed commitment to justice for all.The MLK Coalition is excited to include a segment for children by the Bootsy Collins Foundation Greater Cincinnati Land of Superheroesto celebrate the legacy of Dr. King through music and creative expression. As always, the event will feature inspiring music by the MLK Chorale, Baba Charles and the Samba Band, and new this year, will include a group of Steppers.
