A male suspect has been remanded to custody in relation to the tragic death of 60-year-old Calixtus George, who suffered fatal injuries in his Au Tabor, Anse La Raye neighborhood last month.
In an official announcement made on Wednesday, law enforcement revealed that Joel Regis was apprehended and charged with murder on June 16. Subsequently, he appeared before the First District Court for a bail hearing, which resulted in the denial of bail. Regis has been placed in the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
This murder charge stems from an incident on June 3, when Anse La Raye police responded to reports of an assault at approximately 9:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered George unconscious and injured by the roadside in Au Tabor.
He was rushed to the Owen King European Hospital for medical assistance but tragically passed away from his injuries on June 13.
