A Black server at a Cracker Barrel in Tennessee has reported enduring severe racial harassment over her decade-long employment, with allegations directed at both white coworkers and supervisors who faced no repercussions.Roberta Mendez, who began her role in 2015 at the Nashville location, lodged a federal lawsuit on August 21, detailing multiple incidents of her colleagues hurling slurs and derogatory remarks at her. Her complaint, referenced by The Independent, disclosed that she was called names such as “nappy-headed [N-word],” “burnt biscuit,” and “monkey.”Mendez recounted a disconcerting encounter with a shift leader last year, where she was bluntly told, “I don’t like Black people.” Furthermore, she claimed to have been “physically pushed and hit,” and asserted that management “segregated” Black employees from their white counterparts.Despite reporting the abuse, Mendez faced disciplinary action instead of her alleged harassers.
