Nas is adapting classic hip hop movie Beat Street into a Broadway musical

Classic ‘80s hip hop movie Beat Street is set to be adapted into a Broadway musical by Nas. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nas will be working on the musical elements of the upcoming show, using inspiration from the film’s original score Released 30 years ago, the Stan Lathan-directed film follows the story of a pair of brothers and their friends trying to make it in the world of hip hop including DJing, breakdancing and graffiti. The film’s original co-producer composer and music producer Arthur Baker will be joining Nas in the production of the stage adaptation.
