The Wheeler-Dowe Boys & Girls Club of Indianapolis recently celebrated a significant enhancement to its recreational facilities, a transformation made possible by NBA Cares in collaboration with Emirates, the NBA's Official Airline Partner. This renovation of a multipurpose room is part of Emirates’ role as the 2025 presenting partner for NBA Cares Finals Legacy Projects, which funds community initiatives nationwide.
On June 12, Emirates representatives, alongside Mark Tatum (NBA Deputy Commissioner), Steve Simon (Indiana Pacers Alternate Governor), Mel Raines (CEO of Pacers Sports & Entertainment), and Mayor Joe Hogsett, gathered at the club for the unveiling ceremony. Mayor Hogsett remarked on sports' vital influence in the community, highlighting the newly upgraded space.
Established in 1972, Wheeler-Dowe plays a crucial role in nurturing youth in Martindale Brightwood, offering a safe haven for extracurricular activities and mentorship. The renovation includes colorful graphics, modern technology, and furniture to create an engaging and inspiring environment for local youth, reflected by Emirates’ commitment to community upliftment through sports.
