ATLANTA — The Bullseye Black Market is taking over New Birth Missionary Baptist Church this Easter Weekend, in a move to bolster support for Black businesses.
It comes after Target announced plans to roll back DEI initiatives in January of 2025.
New Birth Pastor Jamal Bryant countered with a 40-day Target fast, ending Easter weekend, calling on members of his church community and beyond to stop shopping at the nationwide retailer.
He says nearly 200,000 people across the country took an online pledge to take part in the Target fast.
“You can’t tell people what not to do, without telling them what they can do,” said Bryant.
More than 100 Black-owned businesses will set up shop at the church, creating an opportunity for the Black community to support their own.
Bryant was joined by Congressman Hank Johnson and other local elected leaders to kick off the market with a ribbon cutting on Friday.
The vendors include shops selling fashion apparel, home goods, art, cosmetics, services and more.
