Jude Sandy has been named an assistant professor of theater at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. He has taught at Swarthmore for the past year as a visiting assistant professor. Earlier in his career, he was a visiting assistant professor of theater and dance at Amherst College in Massachusetts. Sandy earned his bachelor’s degree in Africana studies with an emphasis in theatre arts and his master of fine arts degree in acting and directing from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Jean Beaman has joined the faculty at the City University of New York Graduate Center as an associate professor of sociology. She comes to her new role from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she taught as an associate professor of sociology. Her background in ethnographic research led her to authoring Citizen Outsider: Children of North African Immigrants in France (University of California Press, 2017). Dr. Beaman earned her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and a Ph.D. all in sociology from Northwestern University in Illinois.
